I did not see this coming.
This was supposed to be the 10-game road trip from hell, and the A’s – who were one of the worst in the league on the road – were supposed to get eaten alive by the opposition. I mostly feared the Detroit Tigers, who dispatched the A’s so easily last week in Oakland.
But now, the A’s are 4-1 through the first half of the road trip, and are on a four-game winning streak and have won 7 of their last 8 games.
They are also now the First Place Oakland Athletics, as Texas lost yesterday, giving the A’s a half-game lead in the AL West.
Brett Anderson returned after a month-long stint on the DL and was his usual self, silencing the Tigers through 5 2/3 innings.
Oh, and speaking of back from the DL, Mark Ellis is back as well. He had a solo home run and a bases-clearing double, good for 4 RBI in the A’s 6-0 win.
A’s baseball is fun again. Let’s hope they keep it up for awhile.
Go A’s!!
