I have to say, I’m nervous about the upcoming six games. The A’s are rolling, having won five in a row, taking two out of three from the Royals and revengefully sweeping the Giants. But, they won’t be able to wear the yellow jerseys on the road. They’ve been wearing them the last five games.

OK, so it’s not just the yellow jerseys. It always seems like a road trip takes the wind out of the A’s sails. Interleague play has also not been friendly to the A’s the past few seasons, after they used to dominate it in the early 2000s.

But, these are the new A’s. The Bob Melvin A’s. The A’s who have the dynamic Jemile Weeks playing second base, Hideki Matsui hitting 3rd and doing it well, and an offense that seems to be getting 2-out RBIs instead of sputtering away in those opportunities.

And, Bob Melvin knows how to double switch. I don’t fear his managing decisions sinking the A’s like I did with Bob Geren.

These two series with the Mets and Phillies will be telling. Are the A’s back in this thing?

Go A’s!!

Update: The gold jerseys made their appearance after all tonight in New York – and the A’s won! Keep it going…
